Newcastle Council has taken the next step towards the future as a smart, sustainable city with the opening of its solar-powered electric vehicle charging hub/ A custom designed carport with the panels providing both the shade and solar energy to assist in the reducing overall running costs and installing our own ELMOFO E-Cell batteries to store the excess energy produced to assist in the charging stations.

We have onsite a 50kW PV solar system with a 70kWh Tesla Power Roof and 3 phase 15kW Backup Inverter System. This means the whole business including offices and workshop can withstand power outages and continue to function when the grid goes down.

COMMUNITY BATTERIES

An alternative to Solar Home Batteries is the community battery concept, which can provide cost effect access to energy storage including to non-solar owners.

Essentially a much larger battery that is shared across a community, whether that be a street, a town, a shopping centre etc, with the purpose of sharing/storing excess solar electricity and using that at times when solar isn’t available. This significantly reduces the reliance on the grid & need for lengthy transmission lines for that community as well as the added benefit of a shared cost generally meaning cheaper access to energy storage when compared to each individual purchasing a battery ESS(& Solar) .
