Government Rebates

For systems under 100kW, the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) provides Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs), which are issued upfront based on the system's expected output over a 10-year period. Each STC represents 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable electricity and can be traded to reduce installation costs.

For larger systems over 100kW, the Large-scale Renewable Energy Target (LRET) offers Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs). Unlike STCs, LGCs are created based on actual energy production, with one LGC representing 1 MWh of renewable electricity generated. These certificates can be sold on the market, providing an ongoing revenue stream for businesses.

UP TO 30KW SYSTEMS

Due to connection limitations a 30kW PV system often ends up one of the most cost effective installation sizes. If you run a small business inside general office hours then a 30kW PV system is an excellent solution for reducing overall electricity running costs for air conditioning, lighting, computers and everything else. A 30kW PV system will take up about 150m² of roof space. But don’t worry if you cant fit that, we can help figure out the best way to maximise solar yield on your building.

30KW+ SYSTEMS

100kW SYSTEMS

A 100kW+ PV grid connect system installed in New South Wales operates under the federal government's Large-scale Renewable Energy Target (LRET). Unlike smaller systems (under 100kW) that are eligible for Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) providing an upfront discount, these larger systems generate Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs). For every megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable electricity produced by the 100kW system, one LGC is created.

While the financial benefit from STCs is immediate, LGCs provide an ongoing revenue stream based on the actual electricity generated over the system's operational life, which is legislated until 2030. To participate in the LGC scheme, the 100kW solar system must be accredited as a 'power station' with the Clean Energy Regulator (CER). This involves a registration process and ongoing reporting of the system's electricity generation. The revenue generated from selling LGCs can significantly improve the return on investment for these larger commercial solar installations in NSW, offering a long-term financial incentive alongside reduced electricity costs.

Newcastle Airport began commercial operations in 1947 when the Australian Government opened the existing Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) airport to civil aviation. The popular domestic terminal averages over 1.17 million Passengers per year (2007-2017) with plans to increase capacities from international and trade operations. The sites initial electricity consumption and sustainability goals meant that adding solar was a necessity.

Solar Power Australia had the drive, ability & business structure in place to tackle tight deadlines in the safe and environmentally friendly way in which Newcastle Airport PTY LTD operates and provided a suitable grid connected power solution for the site to ensure long term reliability and power to the facility.

Through using high quality, innovative, professional testing services, ALS are committed to operating their businesses with environmentally sustainable outcomes. Solar Power Australia was awarded the opportunity to install a commercial size solar system on the ALS warehouse in Cameron Park, NSW.

A 65.55kW Solar system with 3 phase 50kW inverter capacity was installed and commissioned in October 2021. The deign was chosen to maximize solar usage throughout high power daily operations and export surplus to discount early morning late evening power purchase from the grid.

Fort Scratchley

NCC Fort Scratchley Function Centre 31.12kW PV and 31kWh Battery System

Fort Scratchley, a former coastal defence installation, now a museum and Function Centre. It is located in Newcastle East, a suburb of Newcastle, built in 1882 to defend the city against a possible Russian attack. Part of Newcastle City Councils Climate Action plan is to install Solar & Batteries at Council sites.

SPA Stepped in to provide a suitable Solar & Energy Storage Solution for the site to ensure long term reliability and power to the facility.
