Lake Macquarie Council posed this challenge to us: How do we ensure renewable energy is available to charge electric vehicles 24/7 when the sun is only available during the day?
A large battery storage system is the answer. Oh, and it also needs to be up off the ground since it's a flood zone, as well as easily removable.
The 60kW PV system provides power during the day to the battery which stores up to 120kWh of renewable power. This can be harnessed at any time by the high output EV chargers.
